Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do on the University of Exeter eCertificate Portal?

As a student you can view an electronic version of your degree certificate and transcript and report any errors.

How do I view my documents?

To view your documents, you'll need to register to use the portal. To do this, click the "Register" button and enter the details requested. The information you enter will be used to match against data held by the University. If the information matches, your account will be automatically approved. If the information only partially matches, an administrator will double check your account before approving. To complete the registration process, you'll receive an email to confirm your email address, you will need to click on the link to confirm you email address.

I haven't received the email to confirm my email address

Please check your spam email and/or junk folders as your email provider may not have recognised the sender as a safe sender and re-directed it from your inbox. If after checking your spam and junk folders you still have not received your confirmation email, please contact us using the details on the Support page, providing your name, date of birth and student number.

Are the electronic documents viewable on the portal official documents?

Yes, the electronic documents on the portal are official documents issued by the university and can be used to verify your qualification.

Can I print or download my documents from the portal?

The portal allows you to access and view your certificate and transcript, but by design they cannot be printed or downloaded. Instead, to share your document with someone else (e.g. an employer, other university etc), use the Connections page on the portal. This will grant permission for them to log in and view your qualification to verify its authenticity. To start this process, see ‘Connections’ on the dashboard.

Can I give permission for third parties to view and verify my qualification?

Yes – you can create a Connection with third parties (employers, Universities etc) giving permission for them to log in and view your qualification to verify its authenticity. To start this process, see ‘Connections’ on the dashboard. You will be asked how long you wish to allow access for. After the end date, Third parties will no longer be able to access your information. Until the Third party approves the request by clicking on the “Accept connection Request” the connection status will remain as Pending. You can resend the email if the third party says that they have not received the connection request.

What does the QR code on documents do?

The QR code is a Smart Verify Plus code, which enables real-time verification of qualifications. If a document that has been issued is valid, scanning the Smart Verify Plus code using an ordinary smartphone camera will launch the Smart Verify Plus portal, showing the current status of the qualification.

Will updating contact details on the portal update my details with the university?

No - updating your contact details in the Digital Documents portal will not update the core University contact details for you. The University will continue to contact you using the email address that you provided. If you wish to change this please contact us using the details on the Support page.
